Wendy Pressley-Jacobs

Wendy has always had a passion for helping bring clarity and understanding to communications, with a goal to bring people together. Looking to combine journalism and art, she found a perfect outlet for her skills in graphic design. With 45 years of experience in the design consulting industry, Wendy has seen communications change and grow from a world of the printed word to a myriad of ways to reach and influence constituents.

Wendy grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Cleveland, and Chicago. She was educated in graphic design and liberal arts at Indiana University, graduating with a BFA degree in graphic design. After affiliations with Design Planning Group as a Designer and Principal Design Manager;  Burson-Marsteller as Vice President, Creative Group Director of the Design Group; and Goldsholl Design & Film as Vice President/Design; Wendy founded the design firm Pressley Jacobs Design in 1985 in Chicago. In 2010, long-term employee, William Johnson, became an owner of the firm, and the name was changed to Pressley Johnson Design. The firm continues to be headquartered in Chicago, IL, while Wendy operates out of Ojai, CA, with frequent visits to Chicago. She initially moved to Ojai in 2014 to assist her aging parents, and although they have both passed on, Wendy and her husband had grown to love this small town of artists, musicians, educators, and nature lovers. In Ojai, Wendy and her husband volunteer for the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy, and Wendy is the treasurer of her local church.

Wendy is a member of the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts). She received the prestigious AIGA Fellow award in 2015 in recognition of her significant contribution to raising the standards of excellence in practice and conduct within the Chicago design community. She sat on the AIGA Chicago Chapter Advisory Board for many years and was the chapter’s first president. In 1983 Wendy was elected to the membership of “27 Chicago Designers.” In the 1990s, Women in Design/Chicago selected Wendy as “Woman of the Year,” the School of Fine Arts at Indiana University selected Wendy “Alumni of the Year,” and Photo District News named Pressley Jacobs Design one of eight “Hot Design Firms” in the Chicago market. She has received individual design recognition from numerous design organizations and has been tapped to judge design shows across the country, including the 2010 Communication Arts illustrious design competition.

Wendy is pleased to bring her experience and capabilities to help promote the efforts of PAI. She believes that family is precious, and the time together provided by respites, especially during trying times, is priceless.
